The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, has a new vice president – Anupam Kher.When Gajendra Chauhan was appointed as the vice chairman of The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, the decision was met with protests and a strike that continued for 139 days. But now that Kher has taken the place, the reaction of students are yet to be known.

In a career spanning four decades, Kher has acted in more than 500 films and has over 100 stage performances to his credit. The the 62-year-old was awarded the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016.

He took to Twitter to express his gratitude:

I feel deeply humbled & honoured to be apportioned as the Chairman of iconic #FTII. I will perform my duties to the best of my abilities.

His wife, Kirron Kher, too, also congratulated him on the social media site:

Congratulations my dear @AnupamPkher for becoming FTII Chairman ! Know you will do a great job!
