Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card

Cryptic? Not quite. As if he didn’t have his fingers in enough pies, Baba Ramdev, the omnipresent also-yoga-guru, now seeks to leave his mark on mobile telephony. He has tied up with BSNL to launch the Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM Card!

Initially available only for Patanjali employees, the full launch will see people getting a discount of 10 per cent on Patanjali products. A Rs 144 recharge gets the user unlimited calls across India, 2 GB of data, and 100 SMSs, as well as medical insurance (Rs 2.5 lakh) and life insurance (Rs 5 lakh), both available only in the case of road accidents.

But why BSNL? As per the Baba, BSNL is a ‘Swadeshi network’ and the motive of both Patanjali and BSNL is the welfare of the country.

The Internet was quick to pick on the news, and of course trolls got active. Sample some delights below:

“Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali has tied up with BSNL to launch Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card.
Calls to Customer Care will be like
*Do Navasana for English*
*Hindi ke liye chakrasana karein*
Caller *angrily* : there’s no network, what do I do?
Executive : Anulom Vilom.”

“Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali has tied up with BSNL to launch Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM cards. If this isn’t a BRILLIANT strategic brand partnership, then I don’t know what is, because you anyway end up doing about 14 different yoga asanas trying to get a bar of signal on a BSNL sim card.”

“Patanjali launches SIM cards. Now non veg jokes will get converted into veg jokes and get delivered.”
