Did that get your attention? Well it’s true . . . or at least, it’s partly true. A bus-sized asteroid shall be zipping past the Earth tomorrow i.e. Friday, March 02, 2018. While it of course appears small from where we will see it, this celestial body is actually the size of a bus!
Scientists associated with the Asteroid Watch widget of NASA have confirmed that the particular asteroid is known as 2018 DV1, and it measures 23 feet/seven metres wide. This celestial body will fly past our blue planet within a distance of 70,000 miles (113,000 km).
Want to watch the event, live? The Virtual Telescope Project will be holding a webcast with astrophysicist Gianluca Masi in Ceccano, Italy. The webcast will feature views of the asteroid as seen from a 16-inch (41-cm) robotic telescope at the Tenagra Observatories in Arizona. Click here to watch the event at at 12:30 AM EST (-5:30 GMT):
