Cinestaan Film Company (CFC) has acquired the rights to the film.
Are you fond of watching biopics? Are you a tennis fan? Then, there’s a good news out there. Soon, there will be a biopic on the former tennis legend, Vijay Amritraj. The movie will focus on Amritraj’s career, achievements, personal life and philanthropic activities.
The film will be co-produced by Vijay’s son, Prakash who shared, “I’ve always felt beyond blessed to have my greatest hero and my father in the same person. I am really excited to bring the story to the big screen.”
The celebrated sportsperson has acted in two Hollywood movies, Star Trek and Octopussy- both global hits.
With such movies coming, Bollywood already has given us a spate of biopics and is keen to give more. Here is a long list:
Mangal Pandey– The movie shows how an Indian sepoy fights against the British rule, calling it a war of Independence and yet saves the life his British commanding officer.
Paan Singh Tomar- The story of the film was based on the story of an athlete of the same name who won a gold medal at the Indian National Games, but was forced to become a bandit.
The Dirty Picture– The movie talks about the South Indian actress, Silk Smitha, who was known for her erotic roles.
Azhar– The movie is inspired from the life of former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin.
Sarbjit– In the movie, a woman fights for 23 years to clear her brother’s name after he is accused of terrorism, posthumously.
M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story– The movie explains how the cricket star aspires to play for country and become big.
Dangal– An inspiring movie that shows how a former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat trains his young daughters to follow his passion and become world-class wrestlers.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag– The plot of the movie revolves around the life of Indian athlete, Milkha Singh who was a national champion runner and an Olympian.
Mary Kom– The movie shows Mary’s journey of becoming a boxer to her victory at the 2008 World Boxing Championship in Ningbo.
Neerja– A biographical thriller on flight attendant Neerja Bhanot who died young in saving the passengers on the plane hijacked by a terrorist group.
Also, gear up for the next biopic in December.
Padmavati– To be released on December 1, this year, it is a biopic on Rani Padmini, a legendary queen mentioned in Padmavat and wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh, ruler of Mewar.
