India’s First International Cherry Blossom Festival to be held in the capital city of Meghalaya.
Now, you don’t have to fly to Japan or any other country to witness the famous cherry blossom festival. Why? Because, the north-eastern city, Shillong is hosting the breathtaking autumn festival from November 8-11. Great news isn’t it!
Het set to see nature in its full glory! Shillong is perhaps the only place in the world where cherry blossoms in November! Earlier, the Cherry Blossom festival was held in 2016, but this time it will be held on an international level, which will make India join the league of US, Holland, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea.
The festival, which is organised by the state government and the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, is free and open to all. There will be various events like community events, live rock concert, dance performances from Northeast India, western and traditional folk music, photography contest, guided night walks, bicycle rallies, choir performances, storytelling sessions of local world folktales, beauty pageant, fashion show, archery competition, golf contest, stalls showcasing the cuisine, wine, arts and crafts of the region and much more.
