The 2017/18 UEFA Champions League group stage draw has been made, with highlights including Bayern v Paris, Chelsea v Atlético, Juventus v Barcelona and Real Madrid v Dortmund.
The Champion’s League is back with the biggest teams in Europe all set to battle it out for the continent’s biggest annual soccer tournament. Zinedine Zidane’s men (Real Madrid) have won the past two CL tournaments, but can they make it three in a row this season?
It won’t be an easy road for Madrid this time around as they are placed in the toughest group with Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham and APOEL Nicosia in Group H. Meanwhile, Madrid’s arch rivals Barcelona did not get an easy pass, either, as they were drawn against Juventus, Olympiakos and Sporting CP in Group D.
The English clubs, however, got relatively easier draws with Chelsea’s matchup with Atletico Madrid among the more challenging matchups, while Liverpool to face Sevilla as their toughest opponent in their group.
As for the Red Devils (Manchester United), they will face Benfica, FC Basel and CSKA Moscow in Group A, while their arch-rivals Manchester City will encounter Shakhtar Donetsk, Napoli and Feyenoord in Group F.
Teams were drawn into eight groups of four. Clubs from the same national association — as well as Russian and Ukrainian clubs — could not be drawn together. The first group games will be played on Sept. 12-13.
