As the playboy-turned-good-man in Bachna Ae Haseeno or as the perseverant salesman in Rocket Singh: Salesman of The Year, Ranbir Kapoor has delivered two of his most loved performances with YRF. The commercial success of the first and the critical acclaim of the latter having truly established him as a force to reckon with during the initial years of his career, the production house and the actor have more than a few happy memories that bind them together. And now, nine years later, YRF and Ranbir are set to collaborate again for a masala entertainer titled Shamshera. Decidedly desi at heart and laced with raw drama, the film is a part of YRF’s three-movie deal with Karan Malhotra, the director of Hrithik Roshan-starrer Agneepath and Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Brothers.
Ranbir tells us, “Shamshera is exactly the film I was looking for. While growing up watching Hindi commercial cinema, I had an image of what a film hero should be doing. Shamshera allows me to do everything that I had imagined and it’s a very exciting project for me. Karan is going to take me completely out of my comfort zone and I’m looking forward to this challenge.”
This high-octane adventure is set in the heartland of India, and will have jaw-dropping action sequences as well as a never-seen-before Ranbir Kapoor. Shamshera is set to go on the floors towards the end of 2018 and its last schedule should wrap up by mid 2019. Excited? We know we are!
