All Game of Thrones fans in the house, rejoice! If reports are true, you could be treated to a prequel series set 1000 years before the fight for the Iron Throne begins. The project is reportedly being helmed by HBO.
As per an official statement, HBO has ordered a pilot episode of the spinoff – one of five such projects still under wraps – created by George RR Martin (author of the original book series) along with British screenwriter Jane Goldman.
“Fans should not expect to see any of the current cast involved in those projects,” Martin had said to the media. The statement promised the prequel will give viewers the chance to see “the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.”
The spinoff, however, won’t hit screens until after the broadcast of the much-anticipated final 8th season of the show, expected to release in 2019.
Game of Thrones, one of HBO’s most successful and applauded project, has already scooped up a record 38 Emmy Awards.
