With the onset of winter, skin changes and is subjected to harsh and cold weather conditions with the air quality worsening every day. Try and use natural & chemical free products on the skin that help cleanse your skin from deep within.
Pollution affects the skin and it begins to lose moisture and elasticity. It can lead to damage because of the toxins and cause the face, neck and hands to age prematurely. Smog, dirt and dust in the air clog pores and give the skin a dull appearance. Long term exposure to air pollution can lead to skin allergies, asthma, and eczema.
Below are some skin care tips that can help your skin and fight pollution:
Moisturise: Cold, dry air takes away moisture, resulting in tight, flaky skin. One can prevent dehydration with moisturising the face and body. Use a moisturiser which has natural ingredients like Aloe Vera, Olive Oil, Honey, Coconut Oil. Apply a face moisturiser twice daily – once in the morning and then again at night before going to bed. It will hydrate your skin, keeping it fresh throughout the day.
Sun Protection: We often forget using sun-protection cream in winters. It’s ideal to wear sunscreen if you are going to be outdoors for more than 30 mins during the day.
Aloe Vera: One can apply aloe vera directly to the hands and feet and cover them with socks and gloves before going to bed. This will help the skin to restore its moisture and prevent it from cracking.
Turmeric Face Mask: Turmeric contains an active ingredient called curcumin which has beneficial properties. Application of turmeric on the face will moisturise and rejuvenate skin cells.
Water: It is important to stay hydrated. 70% of our body is made up of water and thus drinking water regularly is very essential. It helps keep the body intact and running and is also very good for the skin.
