Starting with its own Pixel devices, Google has rolled out the new android version Pie, formerly known as Android P.
While Pixel users are enjoying this update, users of Sony Mobile, Xiaomi, HMD Global, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, and Essential will soon follow suit.
What makes this system update different than the usual is Google’s attempt to harness its AI system. Android Pie will use Artificial Intelligence to predict how users would like to experience their devices while offering a smoother navigation system along with an easier way to track and limit usage of apps.
“Android 9 aims to make your phone even smarter by learning from you and adapting to your usage patterns,” said Sameer Samat, Vice President of Product Management, Android and Google Play.
Along with the use of AI, features like adaptive battery, smart text selection, digital wellness, also make this update a welcome one.
Your smartphone will now learn how you like to set the screen brightness at different levels in different settings and do it for you. Slices, will pluck information from your favourite apps for home screen display. The volume controls and screenshot taking buttons to have undergone re-designing.
An App Timer is another added feature, which will let users set time limits on apps and grey out the icon on the home screen when the time is up.
According to Google, Android Pie will be immensely useful for upping the game when it comes to privacy of the user. Google is also giving users the option to do away with swiping and tapping with an enhanced voice command system and sophisticated screen navigation operations.
The other members of the Android smartphone family will receive the updates for the operating system anytime before the end of this year.
