Holi is one of the busiest times of the year in any Indian city, town or village, with hordes of happy people heading home to celebrate the festival of colours with their loved ones. Indian Railways, the country’s veritable lifeline in this regard – while always the most convenient way to reach even the most remote corners of India – has decided to give its passengers a Holi surprise. As many as 54 pairs of Holi Special trains will operate during the festivities this year, to accommodate the extra rush. This move is likely to benefit lakhs of passengers.
As per official statements released, the Central Railway will run 26 special trains, Western Railways will run 4, Northern Railways will run 270, North Central Railways will run 4, North Eastern Railways will run 16, West Central Railways will run 10, Eastern Railways will run 10, East Central Railways will run 140, South East Central Railways will run 4, South West Railways will run 4, South East Railways will run 8, and South Central Railways will run 2 special trains.
