NID student’s logo, cheetah on an engine, is the top pick for the bullet train. The logo was selected from a contest by a three-member screening committee headed by renowned painter and architect Satish Gujral, said a senior Railways official.
Narendra Modi’s ambitious Bullet Train project which is being called National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) finally has a logo. According to reports, the logo has been designed by a student of the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad. It incorporates the outline of a cheetah on a locomotive engine and was the top choice of the three-member screening committee headed by renowned painter and architect Satish Gujral.
The contest for the logo was held in April this year wherein the screening committee received 100 entries of applicants from various states. However, this specific logo stood out to them because of the cheetah that represents speed while the red and blue lines symbolise calm and reliability.
Reports suggest that the central government is to make the Ahmedabad-Mumbai high-speed rail network operational on August 15, 2022, to mark India’s 75th year of Independence. The train is expected to cover a distance of over 500 km between the two cities in less than three hours.
