Founders of Instagram, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, have announced their resignation from social media giant after eight years. The decision has come as a surprise for everyone but they have not specified any reason for it.
They founded Instagram almost eight years ago and the company issued a statement on Monday saying that it’s chief executive officer and chief technical officer have decided to resign.
Kevin Systrom also wrote in a blog that they are taking some time off to explore their curiosity and creativity again.
Instagram was bought by Facebook six years ago for $1bn and is Facebook’s fastest-growing product in terms of revenues. It has almost 1 billion active monthly users and has many features like messaging, IGTV, short videos and more. It has recently added a feature to post slideshows that disappear in 24 hours.
