iphone 8 and 8Plus sales to be affected negatively by upcoming iPhone X.
Are you excited yet confused which new iPhone to flaunt? Okay, read on…
Apple’s big-reveal, iPhone X, has given a serious blow to the much-awaited iPhone 8 and 8Plus, which will be launched in India today. As compared to Apple’s previous debuts, pre-booking of iPhone 8 and 8Plus recorded half the number of bookings it saw last year with the launch of iPhone 7 and 7Plus.
Strategically planned to be launched during the key festival season of Dussehra and Diwali in India, the three-colour-variant smartphone is all set to disappoint retailers, who believe that most of their potential customers are waiting for the pricier iPhone X.
As we set out to find out why iPhone lovers are not jumping in joy to get their hands on the newly launched iPhone series, we managed to come up with a list of features that iPhone X holds over its contenders, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.
With an increased screen-to-body ratio, iPhone X promises dramatically different look as compared to iPhone 8 and 8Plus, which looks very similar to iPhone 7 and 7Plus.
With removal of fingerprint sensor comes FaceID! Since iPhone 8 and 8Plus lack iPhone X’s 3D camera, they do not support FaceID and use fingerprint to unlock their phone instead (like Apple’s previous models).
iPhone X has OLED display which guarantees deeper and richer colours and better pixels as compared to iPhone 8 and 8Plus’ IPS LED display.
The front-camera of iPhone X is topped with “portrait lighting” feature that uses 3D sensor to create depth-map whereas iPhone 8 and 8Plus haven’t seen much update on this front.
Last, but not the least, is the special feature “Animoji”, which uses iPhone X’s 3D camera to map facial expressions and to help create a character that the user will be able to send via iMessage. This novelty gives iPhone X an edge over iPhone 8 and 8Plus any time.
While iPhone 8 and 8Plus’ sales are expected to pickup with increased presence on e-commerce sites, yet the fact that iPhone X will be made available from November 3 (just a month long wait!) is guaranteed to affect its demand in the market.
