Controversy ridden Padmaavat will finally hit screens on January 25. This Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh starrer has had a difficult journey right from the beginning.

After numerous protests, threats and even violence, director Sanjay Leela Bansali’s controversy-ridden period epic Padmaavat (previously Padmavati) finally announced a release date on Sunday. The film will hit screens on January 25. Though it was originally slated to release on December 1, however, the filmmakers had to postpone its release indefinitely after widespread protests by right-wing organisations across the country. As a matter of fact, both the director and the star of the film Deepika Padukone had received death threats and bounties on their heads.

However, the three main leads of the film, Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh took to Twitter on Sunday and shared an updated poster of the film depicting the new release date.

Announcing the new release date, all the three actors, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh took to their Twitter handles and shared an updated poster of Padmaavat.
