The 230 run partnership between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma set the stage for a perfect innings against The Black Caps. India registered a 100 percent record against New Zealand by winning all bilateral series in ODIs from 1988 to 2017.
On a personal level, ‘fastest’ Kohli scored his 9000th ODI run in just 194 innings to overshadow AB de Villiers’ record of 205 innings. He also became the fasted captain to cross 5000 international runs in just 93 innings.
Kohli’s list of achievements doesn’t end there! With 7th successive series win, Captain Kohli also pipped Dravid and Dhoni’s record of 6 consecutive series win.
Earlier in the series, the 28-year-old had scored a hundred on his 200th ODI match against New Zealand surpassing Ricky Ponting’s 30 centuries. He also became the fastest player to score 1000 runs against New Zealand.
