Five-time World Champion Viswanathan Anand stunned World No 1 Magnus Carlsen in the ninth round of the World Rapid Chess Championship in Riyadh

The Indian Grandmaster shocked the world and world no.1 Magnus Carlsen in the 9th round of the World Rapid and Blitz Championship on Thursday, December 28. Five-time World Champion, Viswanathan Anand is still unbeaten. He started with black pieces and played with an aggressive approach while catching Carlsen off-guard.

Anand finished off the match in a total of 34 moves to remain unbeaten in the tournament. Until now, he has drawn four games and won five. Before facing Carlsen, Anand drew his match against Russia’s Vladmir Fedoseev.
